Can I use my own solicitor to certify my document?

You can, but there may be some issues. For example, delays can occur if your solicitor’s signature is not on the FCDO’s database of recognised sample signatures. In such cases, the FCDO will request your solicitor to send a copy of their signature to be added to the database, which can cause a delay in processing.

Our solicitor’s signature is already stored in the FCDO system, so their signature is immediately recognised, allowing the legalisation process to proceed without delay.
